Brébeuf had a chance to take control of that number 1 spot
Brébeuf takes the #1 spot after win vs. Dawson (83-74), behind Guillame Pépin’s 25pts, 14reb, and William Boyer-Richard’s 16pts, 6ast, and 4stl.
After a Vanier loss against Montmorency, Brébeuf had a chance to take control of that number 1 spot, and they did just that. The task wasn’t easy as they were going up against a Dawson squad who are fighting to sneak in the top 2 and play well on their home court. The Blues put up a fight. After a rough first half, they turned it around in the 2nd half. Meanwhile, Brébeuf was pressuring them on the defensive end in the 1st half. Something Dawson couldn’t do at the start of the game. Brébeuf made sure to take advantage of the bad D to splash 41.4% of their 3’s during the game. Pépin and Boyer-Richard had 3 a piece.
Dawson was able to switch gears in the 2nd half after trailing by 12. They were able to slash inside to get them easy baskets as well as a couple and 1s to the crowd into the game. Fouls played a big part of the game. There were many questionable calls and no-calls on both sides. Maybe a few whistles could have changed the outcome of the game. Regardless, Dawson made it an interesting contest in the 4th. Dawson made a run, but it was too little too late, as Brébeuf already had a big lead at that point. Jamesley Jerome was a huge contributor for the Blues with 14 of his 16 points in the second half. Bahaide Haidara did what he’s been doing this year adding 16 points himself. Although, Guillame Pépin’s and William Boyer-Richard’s 41 combined points were too much for the Blues. Brébeuf sits alone in first place, for now.
