Brébeuf takes down number 1 team in the country!
Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf beat the shorthanded 7-man Nomades du Collège Montmorency behind Guillaume Pépin's 23 pts, 8 reb, 4 ast, and 4 stl in a 81-72 win.
The game started it off intense to say the least. Through the 1st half it was a tight match up. Guys were in each others faces, as defence played a huge part throughout the game. Especially for Brébeuf who racked up 10 steals of their total 17 cookies for the game in the first two quarters alone. The game was also host to block party! The Nomades swated 5 of their total 7 in the first half and Brébeuf had 3 blocks which was their total. Although the defence was good, the offence was the complete opposite. It was sluggish. Turnovers played a large part. The Nomades had 17 (23 total) and Brébeuf had 8 (18 total) in the first hald. Not only that, but nothing was falling for both squads. Montmorency shot 9 of 24 (37.5%) from the field and Brébeuf shot a terrible 14 of 48 (29.2%).
The 2nd half took a different turn. Brébeuf was able to take advantage of the shorthanded Nomades who seemed gased and capitilized on most of their turnovers and got easy points inside as they made 50% (16-32) of their shots in the 2nd half. After the 3rd quarter it seemed like the game was out if reach since Brébeuf led by 17. Montmonrency tried to make a run at the end of the 4th quarter, but it was too little too late. Kevin Civil (24 pts) and Blondeau Tchoukuieg (27 pts) carried their team in during that run in the 4th and throughout the game overall. Brébeuf beat Montmorency though behind Guillaume Pépin's 23 pts, 8 reb, 4 ast, and 4 stl in an 81-72 win.
