Are you the next Kevin Zabo?
With March Madness approaching remember, the odds are against you. Regardless of how talented you are nothing is guaranteed. These players are the exceptions to the rule. Being a university athlete is an honour and not something to be taken for granted. As for the young bloods who are working towards this goal, remember the odds are against you. Although don't let this discourage you, let this motivate you. Only 3.4% of high school basketball players in the United States plays Division 1 Basketball at the university level. Therefore to be part of that 3.4%, you need to separate yourself from 96.6% of your competition. In fact, you can insert any cliche about working hard and becoming great but I will leave you with a quote from Conor McGregor: “We are not here to take part, we are here to take over.” How great do you want to be? What are you doing to separate yourself from the competition? Be honest with yourself because if you don't succeed it is your fault. You can try to blame everyone and everything around you but deep down you know it’s your fault. Have you put in the work? Did you give your 100% every time you were on the court or in the weight room? Did you work on your weaknesses or just focused on improving your strengths? You can lie to everyone but you have to be honest with yourself. There isn't anything worse than regret when it comes to being an athlete. Therefore, make sure at the end of your career you're free of regret.
Kevin Zabo (Kenn St.) and Chris Boucher (Oregon-Injured) are the only two quebecois in the March Madness.
